प्रकाशचेतनं तेजो न तेजोऽन्यकृतं भवेत् ।
स्पर्शसंवेदनं स्पर्शो नेतरस्पर्शसंभवः ॥ ५५ ॥

prakāśacetanaṃ tejo na tejo'nyakṛtaṃ bhavet |
sparśasaṃvedanaṃ sparśo netarasparśasaṃbhavaḥ || 55 ||

Light is only our intellection or notion of it, and nothing without it; as feeling is our consciousness of it, and not the perception derived by means of the touch of anything.
