The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

तया मकरमातङ्गनिगीर्णोद्गीर्णमूर्तिमान् ।
अतिचक्राम सुबहून्द्वीपान्तरकुलाचलान् ॥ ८ ॥

tayā makaramātaṅganigīrṇodgīrṇamūrtimān |
aticakrāma subahūndvīpāntarakulācalān || 8 ||

In this way, travelling long and afar, both by land and sea; he was often attacked by wild elephants on the boundary mountains, and repeatedly gorged and disgorged by sharks and alligators in the seas.
