The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 4.8.24

धर्मचिन्तापरिभ्रंशात्पुत्रार्थं भोगचिन्तया ।
क्षीणायुषं तमहरन्मृत्युः सर्प इवानिलम् ॥ २४ ॥

dharmacintāparibhraṃśātputrārthaṃ bhogacintayā |
kṣīṇāyuṣaṃ tamaharanmṛtyuḥ sarpa ivānilam || 24 ||

Thus his falling off from the thought of heaven, to those of the earthly aggrandizement of his son, made his shortened life an easy prey to death, as the inhaling of air by the serpent.
