The English translation of the Sri Bhakti-rasamrta-sindhu verse 2.5.67; a medieval era Sanskrit book, written by Rupa Goswami (fl. 15th century) which represents a devotional (bhakti) masterpiece. In this work Goswami describes the nature and different forms of pure love (rasa) as well as various other topics on Vaishnavism and devotion.

अथ भय-रतिः —
भयं चित्तातिचाञ्चल्यं मन्तु-घोरेक्षणादिभिः ।
आत्म-गोपन-हृच्छोष-विद्रव-भ्रमणादिकृत् ॥२.५.६७॥

atha bhaya-ratiḥ
bhayaṃ cittāticāñcalyaṃ mantu-ghorekṣaṇādibhiḥ |
ātma-gopana-hṛcchoṣa-vidrava-bhramaṇādikṛt
||2.5.67||

English translation

Bhaya-rati:
“When the heart manifests extreme unsteadiness after committing an offense or seeing fearful creatures, it is called bhaya or fear. In this state, the attempt to hide oneself, drying up of the heart, feeling and confusion manifest.”
