The English translation of the Sri Bhakti-rasamrta-sindhu verse 2.5.27; a medieval era Sanskrit book, written by Rupa Goswami (fl. 15th century) which represents a devotional (bhakti) masterpiece. In this work Goswami describes the nature and different forms of pure love (rasa) as well as various other topics on Vaishnavism and devotion.

अथ प्रीतिः —
स्वस्माद् भवन्ति ये न्यूनास् ते’नुग्राह्या हरेर् मताः ।
आराध्यत्वात्मिका तेषां रतिः प्रीतिर् इतीरिता ॥२.५.२७॥

atha prītiḥ
svasmād bhavanti ye nyūnās te’nugrāhyā harer matāḥ |
ārādhyatvātmikā teṣāṃ ratiḥ prītir itīritā
||2.5.27||

English translation

Prīti-rati:
“When persons identify themselves as inferior to the Lord they are called the recipients of mercy (anugrāhyā). Their rati, in which Kṛṣṇa is perceived as worth of worship, is called prīti-rati.
