दैव-योगाद् अस्य पुण्यं
प्राप्तं वै स्वयम् अर्थवत्
येन पुण्येन शुद्धो ऽसौ
तच् छृनु त्वं महा-मते
daiva-yogād asya puṇyaṃ
prāptaṃ vai svayam arthavat
yena puṇyena śuddho 'sau
tac chṛnu tvaṃ mahā-mate
daiva-yogāt—by fate; asya—of him; puṇyam—piety; prāptam—attained; vai—indeed; svayam—personally; arthavat—as money; yena—by whom; puṇyena—by piety; śuddhaḥ—pure; asau—he; tat—that; śṛnu—please hear; tvam—you; mahā-mate—O noble one.
English translation of verse 6.15.40:
Somehow or other, by destiny, this sinner did perform a pious deed, and by that deed he became purified. O noble-hearted one, please hear the story of this.
