The Garga-samhita Verse 5.11.24, English translation, including word-by-word: This text represents a Vaishnava scripture which narrates the life Krishna, It was composed in seventeen cantos by Garga Muni: an ancient sage and priest of the Yadu dynasty having. This is verse 5 of Chapter 11 (The Stories of Kubja and Kuvalayapida) of Canto 5 (mathura-khanda).

श्री-नारद उवाच
सो ऽयं मन्दगतिर् दैत्यो
गजो ऽभूद् विन्ध्या-पर्वते
नाम्ना कुवलयापीडो
नागायुत-समो बले

śrī-nārada uvāca
so 'yaṃ mandagatir daityo
gajo 'bhūd vindhyā-parvate
nāmnā kuvalayāpīḍo
nāgāyuta-samo bale

śrī-nārada uvāca—Śrī Nārada said; saḥ—he; ayamhe; mandagatiḥ—mandagati; daityaḥthe Daitya; gajaḥan elephant; abhūt—became; vindhyā-parvate—in the Vindya mountains; nāmnā—by the name; kuvalayāpīḍaḥKuvalayapida; nāgāyuta-samaḥ—equao to tne thousand elephants; balein strength.

English translation of verse 5.11.24:

Śrī Nārada said: In this way the Daitya Mandagati became an elephant in the Vindhyā Hills. He was as strong as ten thousand other elephants.
