तिर्यग्-भूतश् च तं नागो
गृहीतुम् उपचक्रमे
मुष्टिना तं घातयित्वा
पुरो दुद्राव माधवः
tiryag-bhūtaś ca taṃ nāgo
gṛhītum upacakrame
muṣṭinā taṃ ghātayitvā
puro dudrāva mādhavaḥ
tiryag-bhūtaḥ—disoriented; ca—and; tam—Him; nāgaḥ—the elephant; gṛhītum—to grab; upacakrame—approached; muṣṭinā—with a fish; tam—it; ghātayitvā—punching; puraḥ—in front; dudrāva—ran; mādhavaḥ—Kṛṣṇa.
English translation of verse 5.7.23:
Its trunk and body twisted into an awkward position, the disoriented elephant tried to grab Kṛṣṇa, but Kṛṣṇa punched it with His fist and ran to the front.
