The Garga-samhita Verse 4.21.5, English translation, including word-by-word: This text represents a Vaishnava scripture which narrates the life Krishna, It was composed in seventeen cantos by Garga Muni: an ancient sage and priest of the Yadu dynasty having. This is verse 4 of Chapter 21 (Lord Krsna Extinguishes the Forest Fire and Reveals Himself to the Brahmana’s Wives) of Canto 4 (madhurya-khanda).

Sanskrit text, transliteration and word-by-word meaning:

तथा-भुतेसु गोपेसु तम् अग्निम् भय-कारकम् अपिबद् भगवान् देवो देवानाम् पच्यताम् न्र्प तथा

tathā-bhutesu gopesu tam agnim bhaya-kārakam apibad bhagavān devo devānām pacyatām nrpa tathā

bhutesu—doing that; gopesu—the gopas; tam—that; agnim—fire; bhaya-kārakamterrifying; apibat—drank; bhagavānthe Lord; devaḥ—the master; devānām—of the dmeigods; pacyatām—looking on; nrpaO king.

English translation of verse 4.21.5:

As the gopas closed their eyes and the demigods looked on, Lord Krsna drank up that terrifying fire.
