हसन्त्यौ ते च गायन्त्यौ
पुष्प-कन्दुक-लीलया
पश्यत्यौ वन-वृक्षांश् च
चेरतुर् मैथिलेश्वर

hasantyau te ca gāyantyau
puṣpa-kanduka-līlayā
paśyatyau vana-vṛkṣāṃś ca
ceratur maithileśvara

hasantyau—laughing; te—They; ca—and; gāyantyau—singing; puṣpaof flowers; kandukaballs; līlayā—with playing; paśyatyau—glancing; vana-vṛkṣān—among the trees; ca—and; ceratuḥ—walking; maithileśvara—O king of Mithilā.

English translation of verse 2.17.35:

O king of Mithilā, laughing, singing, playing with a toy ball made of flowers, and glancing at each other, they walked among the trees in that garden.
