The Garga-samhita Verse 2.5.10, English translation, including word-by-word: This text represents a Vaishnava scripture which narrates the life Krishna, It was composed in seventeen cantos by Garga Muni: an ancient sage and priest of the Yadu dynasty having. This is verse 2 of Chapter 5 (The Liberation of Bakasura) of Canto 2 (vrindavana-khanda).

दण्डो ऽपि भग्नतां प्रागात्
स क्षतो नाभवद् बकः
तदैव चाग्रतः प्राप्तस्
चण्डांशुश् चण्ड-विक्रमः

daṇḍo 'pi bhagnatāṃ prāgāt
sa kṣato nābhavad bakaḥ
tadaiva cāgrataḥ prāptas
caṇḍāṃśuś caṇḍa-vikramaḥ

daṇḍaḥthe weapon; api—even; bhagnatām—the state of being broken; prāgāt—attained; sa—he; kṣataḥ—broken; na—not; abhavat—was; bakaḥ—the duck; tadāthen; eva—indeed; ca—and; agrataḥ—in the presence; prāptaḥ—attained; caṇḍāṃśuḥ—Sūrya; caṇḍa-vikramaḥpowerful.

English translation of verse 2.5.10:

Indeed, the yama-daṇḍa became broken, but the duck was not hurt. Then powerful Sūrya approached.
