The Garga-samhita Verse 2.5.9, English translation, including word-by-word: This text represents a Vaishnava scripture which narrates the life Krishna, It was composed in seventeen cantos by Garga Muni: an ancient sage and priest of the Yadu dynasty having. This is verse 2 of Chapter 5 (The Liberation of Bakasura) of Canto 2 (vrindavana-khanda).

Sanskrit text, transliteration and word-by-word meaning:

यमस् तं यम-दण्डेन
तादयाम् आस चाग्रतः
तेन दण्डेन न मृतो
बको वै चण्ड-विक्रमः

yamas taṃ yama-daṇḍena
tādayām āsa cāgrataḥ
tena daṇḍena na mṛto
bako vai caṇḍa-vikramaḥ

yamaḥYama; tam—him; yama-daṇḍena—with his yama-daṇḍa; tādayām āsa—struck; ca—and; agrataḥ—from that; tena—by that; daṇḍena—weapon; na—not; mṛtaḥ—died; bakaḥ—the duck; vai—indeed; caṇḍa-vikramaḥvery powerful.

English translation of verse 2.5.9:

With his yama-daṇḍa Yama struck the demon. With that blow the very powerful duck did not die.
