शत-बाणैर् बकं दैत्यं
सञ्जघान धनुर्-धरः
तीक्ष्नैः पक्ष-गतैर् बाणैर्
न ममार बकस् ततः

śata-bāṇair bakaṃ daityaṃ
sañjaghāna dhanur-dharaḥ
tīkṣnaiḥ pakṣa-gatair bāṇair
na mamāra bakas tataḥ

śatahundred; bāṇaiḥ—with arrows; bakamthe duck; daityam—demon; sañjaghāna—struck; dhanuḥa bow; dharaḥ—hilding; tīkṣnaiḥ—sharp; pakṣa-gataiḥ—gone to the wing; bāṇaiḥ—with arrows; na—not; mamāra—died; bakaḥ—the duck; tataḥ—then.

English translation of verse 2.5.11:

The archer Sūrya struck the demon duck with a hundred sharp arrows flying to his wing. The duck did not die.
