श्री-नारद उवाच
भीतह् पलायते नायं
योद्धारह् कंस-नोदितह्
अयुतं शस्त्र-सम्युक्ता
रुरुधुह् शौरि-मन्दिरं
śrī-nārada uvāca
bhītah palāyate nāyaṃ
yoddhārah kaṃsa-noditah
ayutaṃ śastra-samyuktā
rurudhuh śauri-mandiraṃ
śrī-nāradah uvāca—Śrī Nārada said; bhītah—frightened; palāyate—flees; na—not; ayam—he; yoddhārah—soldiers; kaṃsa—by Kaṃsa; noditah—sent; ayutam—ten thousand; śastra-samyuktāh—with weapons; rurudhuh—stopped; śauri—Vasudeva's; mandiram—palace.
English translation of verse 1.10.1:
Frightened Vasudeva could not flee, for ten thousand armed soldiers sent by Kaṃsa surrounded Vasudeva's palace.
