शौरिह् कालेन देवक्याम्
अष्टौ पुत्रान् अजीजनत्
अनुवर्षं चाथ कन्याम्
एकां मायां सनातनीम्
śaurih kālena devakyām
aṣṭau putrān ajījanat
anuvarṣaṃ cātha kanyām
ekāṃ māyāṃ sanātanīm
śaurih—Vasudeva; kālena—in time; devakyām—in Devakī; aṣṭau—eight; putrān— sons; ajījanat—begat; anuvarṣam—every year; ca—and; atha—then; kanyām— daughter; ekām—one; māyām—Māyā; sanātanīm—eternal.
English translation of verse 1.10.2:
In the course of time, year after year, Vasudeva begat in Devakī eight sons and a daughter who was the eternal goddess Māyā.
