The Garga-samhita Verse 1.5.11, English translation, including word-by-word: This text represents a Vaishnava scripture which narrates the life Krishna, It was composed in seventeen cantos by Garga Muni: an ancient sage and priest of the Yadu dynasty having. This is verse 1 of Chapter 5 (The Lord’s Appearance) of Canto 1 (goloka-khanda).

Sanskrit text, transliteration and word-by-word meaning:

जालन्धर्यश् च या नार्यो
वीक्ष्य वृन्दा-पतिं हरिम्
ऊचुर् वयं हरिः साक्षाद्
अस्माकं तु वरो भवेत्

jālandharyaś ca yā nāryo
vīkṣya vṛndā-patiṃ harim
ūcur vayaṃ hariḥ sākṣād
asmākaṃ tu varo bhavet

jālandharyaḥ—the women of Jālandhara; ca—and; yāḥ—who; nāryaḥ—women;

English translation of verse 1.5.11:

vīkṣya—seeing; vṛndā-patim—the husband of Vṛndā; harim—Lord Hari; ūcuḥ—

said; vayam—we; hariḥ—Lord Hari; sākṣāt—directly; asmākam—of us; tu—

indeed; varaḥ—choice; bhavet—is.

When the women of the Jālandhara country saw Lord Hari, the husband of Vṛndā, they said (to themselves), "May Lord Hari be our chosen husband".
