श्री-गर्ग उवाच
तच् छ्रुत्वा हर्षितो राजा
रोमाञ्ची प्रेम-विह्वलः
प्रमृश्य नेत्रे ऽश्रु-पूर्णे
नारदं वाक्यम् अब्रवीत्
śrī-garga uvāca
tac chrutvā harṣito rājā
romāñcī prema-vihvalaḥ
pramṛśya netre 'śru-pūrṇe
nāradaṃ vākyam abravīt
śrī-gargaḥ uvāca—Śrī Garga said; tat śrutvā—hearing; harśitaḥ—delighted; rājā—the king; romāñcī—his bodily hairs erect; prema—with love; vihvalaḥ—overcome; pramṛśya—wiping; netre—his eyes; aśru—with tears; pūrṇe—filled; nāradam—to Nārada; vākyam—a statement; abravīt—said.
English translation of verse 1.1.28:
Śrī Garga said: Hearing this, the king became very happy. Overcome with love and the hairs of his body erect in ecstasy, he wiped his tear-filled eyes and spoke to Nārada.
