This page describes Description of Dhatakikhanda which is the twenty-fifth part of chapter III of the English translation of the Ajitanatha-caritra, contained within the “Trishashti Shalaka Purusha Caritra”: a massive Jain narrative relgious text composed by Hemacandra in the 12th century. Ajitanatha in jainism is the second Tirthankara (Jina) and one of the 63 illustrious beings or worthy persons.
Part 25: Description of Dhātakīkhaṇḍa
Next, the second continent, named Dhātakīkhaṇḍa, twice as wide, surrounds Lavaṇoda. Everything that is in Jambūdvīpa—Meru, zones, zone-mountains—is called by the same name in Dhātakīkhaṇḍa, but is twice as large. It is divided by the Iṣvākāra Mts. running north and south, and in the east and west halves has the same names as Jambūdvīpa. The zone-mountains and the Iṣvākāras are like the spokes of a wheel, high as Niṣadha, touching Kāloda and Lavaṇa, and the zones are between the spokes.
