The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

जगज्जीर्णारघट्टेऽस्मिन्वहति स्वव्यवस्थया ।
विप्रेतभूतघटया रज्वा जीविततृष्णया ॥ २ ॥

jagajjīrṇāraghaṭṭe'sminvahati svavyavasthayā |
vipretabhūtaghaṭayā rajvā jīvitatṛṣṇayā || 2 ||

All living and departed souls, are tied like buckets by the rope of their desire, and made to rise and fall in this old well of the world, by the law of their predetermined destiny.
