The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

बद्धमस्मीति कलयद्विद्यातत्त्वं जहच्छनैः ।
अविद्यां जनयत्यन्तर्जगज्जङ्गलराक्षसीम् ॥ ३३ ॥
baddhamasmīti kalayadvidyātattvaṃ jahacchanaiḥ |
avidyāṃ janayatyantarjagajjaṅgalarākṣasīm || 33 ||
Knowing itself to be enslaved, it bids farewell to the freedom of its thought and knowledge; and begets within itself the gross ignorance, which rages and ranges free in the forest of this world, with its horribly monstrous appearance.
