The Garga-samhita Verse 5.7.31, English translation, including word-by-word: This text represents a Vaishnava scripture which narrates the life Krishna, It was composed in seventeen cantos by Garga Muni: an ancient sage and priest of the Yadu dynasty having. This is verse 5 of Chapter 7 (The Killing of Kuvalayapida) of Canto 5 (mathura-khanda).

Sanskrit text, transliteration and word-by-word meaning:

दूरे प्रपतितास् तस्य
महा-मात्र इतस् ततः
सतां प्रपश्यतां नागः
सद्यो वै निधनं गतः

dūre prapatitās tasya
mahā-mātra itas tataḥ
satāṃ prapaśyatāṃ nāgaḥ
sadyo vai nidhanaṃ gataḥ

dūre—far away; prapatitāḥ—thrown; tasya—of it; mahā-mātrathe trainer; itaḥ—here; tataḥand there; satām—as the saintly people; prapaśyatām—watched; nāgaḥ—the elephgant; sadyaḥ—at once; vai—indeed; nidhanam—death; gataḥ—attained.

English translation of verse 5.7.31:

As the saintly people of Mathurā watched and the trainer fled, the elephant suddenly died.
