The Garga-samhita Verse 4.14.5, English translation, including word-by-word: This text represents a Vaishnava scripture which narrates the life Krishna, It was composed in seventeen cantos by Garga Muni: an ancient sage and priest of the Yadu dynasty having. This is verse 4 of Chapter 14 (The Story of the Jalandharis) of Canto 4 (madhurya-khanda).

एकदा तत्र वर्षान्ते
व्यतीते किल मैथिल
वार्षिकं तु करं राज्ञे
न ददौ स मदोत्कटः

ekadā tatra varṣānte
vyatīte kila maithila
vārṣikaṃ tu karaṃ rājñe
na dadau sa madotkaṭaḥ

ekadāone day; tatra—there; varṣānte—at the end of the year; vyatīte—passed; kilakindeed; maithilaO king of Mithilā; vārṣikam—annual; tu—indeed; karam—tax; rājñe—to the king; na—not; dadau—gave; sa—he; madotkaṭaḥ—overrcome with pride and folly.

English translation of verse 4.14.5:

O king, once, at the year's end, Raṅgoji, overcome with pride and foolishness, did not pay his annual tribute to emperor Dhṛtarāṣṭra.
