धनवन्तस् तत्र गोपा
अनावृष्टि-भयातुराः
स-कुटुम्बा गो-धनैश् च
व्रज-मण्डलम् आययुः
dhanavantas tatra gopā
anāvṛṣṭi-bhayāturāḥ
sa-kuṭumbā go-dhanaiś ca
vraja-maṇḍalam āyayuḥ
dhanavantaḥ—wealthy; tatra—there; gopā—gopas; anāvṛṣṭi-bhayāturāḥ—fearful of the lack of rain; sa-kuṭumbā—with families; go-dhanaiḥ—with cows; ca—and; vraja-maṇḍalam—to the circle of Vraja; āyayuḥ—came.
English translation of verse 4.8.3:
Fearful that it would never rain, the wealthy gopas there traveled, with their families and cows, to the circle of Vraja.
