उशीनरो नाम देशो
दक्षिणस्यां दिशि स्थितः
एकदा तत्र पर्जन्यो
न ववर्ष समा दश
uśīnaro nāma deśo
dakṣiṇasyāṃ diśi sthitaḥ
ekadā tatra parjanyo
na vavarṣa samā daśa
uśīnaraḥ—Usinara; nāma—named; deśaḥ—a country; dakṣiṇasyām—in the sounth; diśi—direction; sthitaḥ—situated; ekadā—one day; tatra—there; parjanyaḥ—rain; na—not; vavarṣa—rained; samā—years; daśa—ten.
English translation of verse 4.8.2:
In the south is a country named Uśīnara, where for ten years it did not rain.
