खे वायौ चाग्नि-जलयोर्
मह्यां ज्योतिर् दिशासु च
द्रुमेषु जन-वृन्देषु
तासां कृष्णो हि लक्ष्यते
khe vāyau cāgni-jalayor
mahyāṃ jyotir diśāsu ca
drumeṣu jana-vṛndeṣu
tāsāṃ kṛṣṇo hi lakṣyate
khe—in space; vāyau—in air; ca—and; agni—in fire; jalayoḥ—in water; mahyām—in the mahat-tattva; jyotiḥ—in light; diśāsu—in the directions; ca—and; drumeṣu—in the trees; jana-vṛndeṣu—in the people; tāsām—of them; kṛṣṇaḥ—Kṛṣṇa; hi—indeed; lakṣyate—is seen.
English translation of verse 4.4.7:
When they looked at the different objects of the creation made of ether, air, fire, and water, when they looked in the different directions, when they looked at the luminaries in the sky, when they looked at trees, and when they looked at people, they did not see them. They only saw Kṛṣṇa.
