अथ चैरावतो नागो
दुद्रावाशु रणाङ्गनात्
निपातयन् महा-वीरान्
देवधानीं पुरीं गतः
atha cairāvato nāgo
dudrāvāśu raṇāṅganāt
nipātayan mahā-vīrān
devadhānīṃ purīṃ gataḥ
atha—then; ca—also; airāvato—Airāvata; nāgo—elephant; dudrāva—fled;
English translation of verse 1.7.51:
āśu—quickly; raṇāṅganāt—from the battleground; nipātayan—knocking over;
mahā-vīrān—great heroes; devadhānīṃ purīṃ—to the capitol of the demigods;
gataḥ—went.
Knocking over many great heroes, the elephant Airāvata fled the battleground and went to the capitol of the demigods.
