Verse 1.5.11

Bengali text, Devanagari and Unicode transliteration of verse 1.5.11:

পাদ-পদ্ম দেখি’ দোঙ্হে করে নমস্কার দোঙ্হে বোলে,—“নিস্তারিমু, জন্ম নাহি আর” ॥ ১১ ॥

पाद-पद्म देखि’ दोङ्हे करे नमस्कार दोङ्हे बोले,—“निस्तारिमु, जन्म नाहि आर” ॥ ११ ॥

pāda-padma dekhi’ doṅhe kare namaskāra doṅhe bole,—“nistārimu, janma nāhi āra” || 11 ||

pada-padma dekhi’ donhe kare namaskara donhe bole,—“nistarimu, janma nahi ara” (11)

English translation:

(11) They both offered obeisances to those lotus footprints and said, “We are delivered! We will not take another birth.”

Commentary: Gauḍīya-bhāṣya by Śrīla Bhaktisiddhānta Sarasvatī Ṭhākura:

One who even once sees the lotus feet of Lord Viṣṇu is delivered from material existence. In other words, such a person attains the supreme destination known as that place from which no one returns. It is stated in the Viṣṇu-dharmottara:

tāvad bhramanti saṃsāre manuṣyā manda-buddhayaḥ yāvad rūpaṃ na paśyanti keśavasya mahātmanaḥ

“A less intelligent person continually wanders in the cycle of birth and death as long as he does not see the form of Keśava.” Understanding this, the brāhmaṇa couple, who considered themselves ordinary persons, spoke in this way.
