Source: DDSA: The Molesworth Marathi and English Dictionarytarapha (तरफ).—f ( A) Side, quarter, direction; but used gen. in the senses following, viz. side, part, party, interest; care, custody, keeping; charge, command, rule over. Ex. tyācē taraphēcēṃ bhāṣaṇa hā bōlatō; hā ḍāginā tumacē taraphēsa asūṃ dyā; tumacē taraphēṛyā svārāñcī hājarī ghyāvayācī āhē. It is, as the examples show, seldom used but in the inflected cases. 2 A lever. 3 A small division of country composed of a varying number of villages. Several tarapha make a paragaṇā. See under dēśa. 4 A division of village-lands under the taraphabandī system. 5 A stopper (as put to a wheel, a door, or gen.)
