Sitāsitakamalaśakalanayana (सितासितकमलशकलनयन) refers to “(the white and dark sections of) the eyes beautifully [contrast] like the petals of a white and dark lotus” and represents the sixty-third of the eighty minor marks of distinction (anuvyañjana) mentioned in the Sukhāvatī and following the order of the Mahāvyutpatti (269-348). In Tibetan, the characteristic called Sitāsitakamalaśakalanayana is known as ‘spyan dkar nag ’byes shing pad ma’i ’dab ma’i mdangs lta bu’. The Sukhāvatī represents a prayer for rebirth which was composed by Karma chags med, a Karma bka’ brgyud master, who lived in the seventeenth century.
