Source: archive.org: TrisastisalakapurusacaritraSahasrāmra (सहस्राम्र) or Sahasrāmravaṇa refers to an ancient grove, according to chapter 2.2 [ajitanātha-caritra] of Hemacandra’s 11th century Triṣaṣṭiśalākāpuruṣacaritra: an ancient Sanskrit epic poem narrating the history and legends of sixty-three illustrious persons in Jainism.
Accordingly: “[...] The Lord spent twelve years enduring trials with severe and manifold penances and with numerous vows. [...] observing the five kinds of carefulness, like Dhanvin (Love) carrying five arrows in his hand; meditating on the fourfold meditation—the teaching of the Jinas, the difficulties arising from love, hate, and delusion, the results of karma, and the form of the universe, having a form himself worthy to be meditated on, wandering in villages, cities, and forests, the Lord gradually approached the grove Sahasrāmra-vaṇa”.

Jainism is an Indian religion of Dharma whose doctrine revolves around harmlessness (ahimsa) towards every living being. The two major branches (Digambara and Svetambara) of Jainism stimulate self-control (or, shramana, ‘self-reliance’) and spiritual development through a path of peace for the soul to progess to the ultimate goal.
