kāpūsa (कापूस).—m (kārpāsa S) Cotton. Applied also to a similar substance produced by the sāṃvarī, ruī, kuḍā and other trees. 2 fig. Mouldiness appearing in fine hairs or lines (as of melons &c.) 3 fig. The flaccid flesh (of a wen, large wart &c.) 4 The fibres of kāla (the core of the stem of kēḷaphūla). kā0 mahāga karaṇēṃ To become lean and gaunt. kā0 savaṅga or svastha karaṇēṃ To become fat and sleek.
