Droṇarasa (द्रोणरस) refers to the “juice of Droṇa (Droṇapuṣpa)”, and is used in the treatment (cikitsā) of poisonous liquids (viṣajala), according to the Kāśyapa Saṃhitā: an ancient Sanskrit text from the Pāñcarātra tradition dealing with both Tantra and Viṣacikitsā, which represents the Ayurvedic study on Toxicology (Viṣavidyā or Sarpavidyā).—In the 12h adhyāya, Kāśyapasaṃhita adds external and internal antidotes for poisons of various animals and insects. [...] Accordingly, “Oil made from the Droṇapuṣpa with its juice (droṇarasa) [sadroṇasvarasaṃ tailaṃ], can be taken as a drink internally, and externally applied as ointment for treating poisonous liquids and bites.”.
