Cattamātar (சத்தமாதர்) [catta-mātar] noun < sapta-mātaraḥ nominative pl. of sapta-mātṛ. The seven divine mothers or personified energies of the principal deities, viz., piramāṇi, nārāyaṇi, mākēccuvari, kaumāri, vārāki, uruttirāṇi, intirāṇi (பிங்கலகண்டு [pingalagandu]): Cūṭāmaṇi-nikaṇṭu giving pirāmi for piramāṇi, vaiṣṇavi for nārāyaṇi, mākēntiri for intirāṇi and mākāḷi for uruttirāṇi; சிவசத்தியின் மூர்த்த பேதங்களான ஏழுமாதர்கள். [sivasathiyin murtha pethangalana ezhumatharkal.]
