Arkakṣīra (अर्कक्षीर) refers to the “milk or exudation of Arka”, and is included in a (snake) poison antidote recipe, according to the Kāśyapa Saṃhitā: an ancient Sanskrit text from the Pāñcarātra tradition dealing with both Tantra and Viṣacikitsā—an important topic from Āyurveda which deals with the study of Toxicology (Viṣavidyā or Sarpavidyā).—Kāśyapa prescribes various antidotes to quell the poison by administering them through nasal drugs, collyrium, ointment, herbal drinks and diet. According to Kāśyapasaṃhitā (verse VIII.15)—“A paste or drink of Seeds and flowers of Śirīṣa, the milk or exudation of Arka (arkakṣīra), the seeds of Kaṭutraya, can be effectively used to cure poison. It can be administered as collyrium as well”.
