Source: Wikisource: A dictionary of Sanskrit grammarAbhikrama (अभिक्रम).—The first of the two utterances of a word which characterise the krama method of recital; e. g in the krama recital of प्रण इन्दो (praṇa indo) etc. प्र णः । न इन्दो । (pra ṇaḥ | na indo |) the first recial प्र णः (pra ṇaḥ) is called अभिक्रम (abhikrama), or प्रथम-वचन (prathama-vacana) while न इन्दो (na indo) is called द्वितीयवचनः (dvitīyavacanaḥ) cf. अभिक्रमे पूर्वविधानमाचरेत् पुनर्ध्रुवंस्तूत्तरकारितं क्रमे (abhikrame pūrvavidhānamācaret punardhruvaṃstūttarakāritaṃ krame) R. Pr. XI.21.
Vyakarana (व्याकरण, vyākaraṇa) refers to Sanskrit grammar and represents one of the six additional sciences (vedanga) to be studied along with the Vedas. Vyakarana concerns itself with the rules of Sanskrit grammar and linguistic analysis in order to establish the correct context of words and sentences.
