This page describes Marriage with Padmavati and Ashvasena which is the twenty-first part of chapter II of the English translation of the Neminatha-caritra, contained within the “Trishashti Shalaka Purusha Caritra”: a massive Jain narrative relgious text composed by Hemacandra in the 12th century. Neminatha in jainism is the twenty-second Tirthankara (Jina) and one of the 63 illustrious beings or worthy persons.

Part 21: Marriage with Padmāvatī and Aśvasenā

Then wandering about, Śauri went to the city named Sālaguhā and there he taught archery to King Bhāgyasena. Powerful Vasudeva defeated Meghasena, the (king’s) elder brother, who had come there to fight with Bhāgyasena. King Bhāgyasena then gave his daughter, Padmāvatī, who resembled Padmā, to Vārṣṇeya and Meghasena gave Aśvasenā. After Vṛṣṇi’s son had enjoyed himself there for a long time with Padmāvatī and Aśvasenā, he went to Bhaddilapura.
