Verse 7.36 - The transgressions of Atithisaṃvibhāga-vrata

सचित्तनिक्षेपापिधानपरव्यपदेशमात्सर्यकालातिक्रमाः ॥ ७.३६ ॥

sacittanikṣepāpidhānaparavyapadeśamātsaryakālātikramāḥ || 7.36 ||

Placing the food on things with organisms such as green leaves–sacittanikṣepa, covering it with such things–sacittāpidhāna, giving the food of another host–paravyapadeśa, envy–mātsarya, and untimely food–kālātikrama, are the five transgressions of the supplementary vow of partaking of one’s food after feeding the ascetic–atithisaṃvibhāgavrata. (36)

Hindi Anvayarth:

अन्वयार्थ: [सचित्तनिक्षेपः] सचित्त पत्र आदि में रखकर भोजन देना, [सचित्तापिधानं] सचित्त पत्र आदि से ढके हुये भोजन आदि को देना [परव्यपदेशः] दूसरे दातार की वस्तु को देना [मात्सर्य] अनादरपूर्वक देना अथवा दूसरे दातार की वस्तु को ईर्षापूर्वक देना और [कालातिक्रमः] योग्य काल का उल्लंघन करके देना-ये पाँच अतिथिसंविभाग शिक्षाव्रत के अतिचार हैं।

Anvayartha: [sacittanikshepah] sacitta patra adi mem rakhakara bhojana dena, [sacittapidhanam] sacitta patra adi se dhake huye bhojana adi ko dena [paravyapadeshah] dusare datara ki vastu ko dena [matsarya] anadarapurvaka dena athava dusare datara ki vastu ko irshapurvaka dena aura [kalatikramah] yogya kala ka ullamghana karake dena-ye pamca atithisamvibhaga shikshavrata ke aticara haim |

Placing the food on things such as the lotus leaf, which contain organisms, is sacittanikṣepa. Covering it with similar things is sacittāpidhāna. Offering another host’s food as if it were one’s own is paravyapadeśa. Lack of earnestness, or envy of another host, is mātsarya. Offering food either too early or too late is kālātikrama. These are the five transgressions of the supplementary vow of partaking of one’s food after feeding the ascetic–atithisaṃvibhāga-vrata.
