Verse 2.148
Sanskrit text, Unicode transliteration and English translation of verse 2.148:
यथा द्रव्यविशेषाणां परिपाकैरयत्नजाः ।
मदादिशक्तयो दृष्टाः प्रतिभास्तद्वतां तथा ॥ १४८ ॥yathā dravyaviśeṣāṇāṃ paripākairayatnajāḥ |
madādiśaktayo dṛṣṭāḥ pratibhāstadvatāṃ tathā || 148 ||148. Just as some substances acquire the power to intoxicate and the like by mere maturity, without the help of any special effort, in the same way are intuitions produced in those that possess them.
Commentary
[The Intuitions are caused, says Puṇyarāja by predispositions, peculiar to every living being of every species. Instead of mada, another reading is manda. Puṇyarāja obviously had mada which seems to me to be a better reading.]
