The English translation of the Sri Bhakti-rasamrta-sindhu verse 1.2.227; a medieval era Sanskrit book, written by Rupa Goswami (fl. 15th century) which represents a devotional (bhakti) masterpiece. In this work Goswami describes the nature and different forms of pure love (rasa) as well as various other topics on Vaishnavism and devotion.

तथा द्वितीये (२.१.९) च —
परिनिष्ठितो’पि नैर्गुण्ये उत्तमःश्लोक-लीलया ।
गृहित-चेता राजर्षे आख्यानं यद् अधीतवान् ॥१.२.२२७॥

tathā dvitīye (2.1.9) ca —
pariniṣṭhito’pi nairguṇye uttamaḥśloka-līlayā |
gṛhita-cetā rājarṣe ākhyānaṃ yad adhītavān
||1.2.227||

English translation

Similarly, it is said in the Second Canto of Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam [2.1.9]:
“O saintly King, I was certainly situated perfectly in transcendence, yet I was still attracted by the delineation of the pastimes of the Lord, who is described by enlightened verses.”
