यमुनेयं नदी साक्षात्
कस्माल् लोकात् समागता
तन्-माहात्म्यं च वद मे
त्वम् असि ज्ञानिनां वरः

yamuneyaṃ nadī sākṣāt
kasmāl lokāt samāgatā
tan-māhātmyaṃ ca vada me
tvam asi jñānināṃ varaḥ

yamunāthe Yamunā; iyamit; nadīriver; sākṣātdirectly; kasmāl—from what?; lokāt—world; samāgatā—come; tan-māhātmyam—the glory of it; ca—also; vadatell; me—me; tvam—you; asi—are; jñāninām—of the wise; varah—the best.

English translation of verse 2.2.3:

From what world did the Yamunā river come? You are the best of the wise.
