The Garga-samhita Verse 2.1.2, English translation, including word-by-word: This text represents a Vaishnava scripture which narrates the life Krishna, It was composed in seventeen cantos by Garga Muni: an ancient sage and priest of the Yadu dynasty having. This is verse 2 of Chapter 1 (Description of the Entrance in Vrindavana) of Canto 2 (vrindavana-khanda).

Sanskrit text, transliteration and word-by-word meaning:

अज्ञान-तिमिरान्धस्य
ज्ञानाञ्जन-शलाकया
चक्षुर् उन्मीलितं येन
तस्मै श्री-गुरवे नमः

ajñāna-timirāndhasya
jñānāñjana-śalākayā
cakṣur unmīlitaṃ yena
tasmai śrī-gurave namaḥ

ajñānaof ignorance; timirāndhasya—of the blinding darkness; jña—of knowledge; anāñjana-śalākayā—with the anointing stick; cakṣuḥ—eyes; unmīlitam—opened; yena—by whom; tasmai—to him; śrī-gurave—my spiritual master; namaḥ—obeisances.

English translation of verse 2.1.2:

I was born in thr darkness of ignorance, and my spiritual master opened my eyes with the torch of knowledge. I offer my respectful obeisances unto him *.
