The Garga-samhita Verse 1.9.10, English translation, including word-by-word: This text represents a Vaishnava scripture which narrates the life Krishna, It was composed in seventeen cantos by Garga Muni: an ancient sage and priest of the Yadu dynasty having. This is verse 1 of Chapter 9 (Description of Vasudeva’s Wedding) of Canto 1 (goloka-khanda).

स्वसुः प्रियं कर्तुम् अतीव कंसो
जग्राह रश्मींस् चलतां हयानाम्
उवाह वाहांस् चतुराङ्गिनीभिर्
वृतः कृपा-स्नेह-परो ऽथ शौरौ

svasuḥ priyaṃ kartum atīva kaṃso
jagrāha raśmīṃs calatāṃ hayānām
uvāha vāhāṃs caturāṅginībhir
vṛtaḥ kṛpā-sneha-paro 'tha śaurau

svasuḥ—to his sister; priyam—a favor; kartum—to do; atīvavery; kaṃsaḥKaṃsa; jagrāha—took; rasmin—the reins; calatām—moving; hayānām—of the horses; uvāha—carried; vāhān—the chariots; caturāṅginībhiḥ—with an army; vṛtaḥ—surrounded; kṛpā-sneha-paraḥ—filled with kindness; athathen; śaurau—for Vasudeva.

English translation of verse 1.9.10:

To please his sister, Kaṃsa took the reins of the moving horses. Kind and affectionate to Vasudeva, and surrounded by an army, he drove the chariot.
