पुच्छे गृहीत्वा तं वत्सं
पोथयाम् आस भू-तले
वशी-कृत्वाथ तं शीघ्रं
म्लेच्छ-देशांस् ततो ययौ
pucche gṛhītvā taṃ vatsaṃ
pothayām āsa bhū-tale
vaśī-kṛtvātha taṃ śīghraṃ
mleccha-deśāṃs tato yayau
pucche—by the tail; gṛhītvā—grabbing; taṃ—that; vatsaṃ—calf; pothayām āsa—threw; bhū-tale—to the ground; vaśī-kṛtvā—subduing; atha—then; taṃ—it;
English translation of verse 1.7.16:
śīghraṃ—quickly; mleccha—of the barbarians; deśān—to the countries; tato—
then; yayau—went.
Kaṃsa grabbed the calf Vatsāsura by the tail and threw it to the ground, in this way bringing it under his dominion. Then he quickly went to the countries of the barbarian mlecchas.
