कार्याधिकारं कुर्वन्तः
सद्-अंशाश् ते प्रकिर्तिताः
तत्-कार्य-भारं कुर्वन्तस्
ते ऽंशांशा विदिताः प्रभोः
kāryādhikāraṃ kurvantaḥ
sad-aṃśāś te prakirtitāḥ
tat-kārya-bhāraṃ kurvantas
te 'ṃśāṃśā viditāḥ prabhoḥ
kārya—of work; adhikāram—overseeing; kurvantaḥ—dooing; sat—of the Lord; aṃśāḥ—aṃśa incarnations; te—they; prakirtitāḥ—described; tat—of that; kārya—work; bhāram—the burden; kurvantaḥ—doing; te—they; aṃśāṃśā—the aṃśāṃśa incarnations; viditāḥ—known; prabhoḥ—of the Lord.
English translation of verse 1.1.20:
The aṃśa incarnations are said to oversee the execution of the Lord's mission (in the world). The aṃśāṃśa incarnations are understood to perform the work of executing those missions.
