The Chaitanya Bhagavata 1.8.32, English translation, including a commentary (Gaudiya-bhasya). This text is similair to the Caitanya-caritamrita and narrates the pastimes of Lord Caitanya, proclaimed to be the direct incarnation of Krishna (as Bhagavan) This is verse 32 of Adi-khanda chapter 8—“The Disappearance of Jagannatha Mishra”.

Bengali text, Devanagari and Unicode transliteration of verse 1.8.32:

শিষ্য দেখি’ পরম-আনন্দে গঙ্গাদাস পুত্র-প্রায করিযা রাখিলা নিজ-পাশ ॥ ৩২ ॥

शिष्य देखि’ परम-आनन्दे गङ्गादास पुत्र-प्राय करिया राखिला निज-पाश ॥ ३२ ॥

śiṣya dekhi’ parama-ānande gaṅgādāsa putra-prāya kariyā rākhilā nija-pāśa || 32 ||

sisya dekhi’ parama-anande gangadasa putra-praya kariya rakhila nija-pasa (32)

English translation:

(32) Gaṅgādāsa was most happy to see his new student, and he treated Him like his own son.

Commentary: Gauḍīya-bhāṣya by Śrīla Bhaktisiddhānta Sarasvatī Ṭhākura:

The word prāya means “equal,” and the word pāśa comes from the word

pārśa, which means “near.”
