Priyamelakacopaī (प्रियमेलकचोपई) is the name of a work by Samayasundara dealing with the lives of Jain teachers.—The Priyamelakacopaī (in Rajasthani) is included in the collection of manuscripts at the ‘Vincenzo Joppi’ library, collected by Luigi Pio Tessitori during his visit to Rajasthan between 1914 and 1919.—The story [of the Priyamelakacopaī] is known through the name of its main character, Siṃhalasuta or through the name of Priyamelaka, an imaginary sacred place (both mentioned together in the other manuscript). The religious purpose is to illustrate the concept of gift of proper food to the Jain monk, the best recipient for dāna. This notion is praised in the introduction and in the concluding part where the previous birth of the hero is narrated. In between an eventful story is narrated. Siṃhalasuta, was a beautiful prince, son of Siṃhalasiṃha on Siṃhaladvīpa.
