Kṣāyopaśamikabhāva (क्षायोपशमिकभाव) refers to one of the five Bhāvas (“condition of a living being”), as occurring in the Anekāntajayapatākā-prakaraṇa, a Śvetāmbara Jain philosophical work written by Haribhadra Sūri.—[Cf. Vol. I, P. 29, l. 14]—There are five bhāvas: (1) aupaśamikabhāva, (2) kṣāyikabhāva, (3) kṣāyopaśamikabhāva, (4) audayikabhāva and (5) pāriṇāmikabhāva. Roughly speaking, ‘bhāva’ means a condition of a living being. ‘Kṣāyopaśamikabhāva’ rises from the partial destruction, subsidence and operation of the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and the 8th kinds of karmans—the karmans known as ghāti-karmans. For details see JRL (pp. 98-100).
