Source: archive.org: Syainika Sastra of Rudradeva with English Translation (art)Kālavedin (कालवेदिन्) refers to “those knowing the proper time” (of certain actions in the art of hawking), according to the Śyainika-śāstra: a Sanskrit treatise dealing with the divisions and benefits of Hunting and Hawking, written by Rājā Rudradeva (or Candradeva) in possibly the 13th century.—Accordingly, [while discussing the outlines of hawking]: “[...] For the purpose of frightening wild hares and other game, swords should be unsheathed and spears held up on all sides. On all sides of the chief hawker, trained servants, knowing the proper time (kālavedin), should hold many birds. [...]”.
