Candrakumāra (चन्द्रकुमार) is the name of a prince from Amarapurī, according to the “Caṃdakumara rī vāta” by Haṃsa Kavi (classified as Rajasthani literature), which is included in the collection of manuscripts at the ‘Vincenzo Joppi’ library, collected by Luigi Pio Tessitori during his visit to Rajasthan between 1914 and 1919.—One day, the prince Candrakumāra, son of Amarasena, the ruler of Amarapurī, went for hunting. After long wanderings, he finally reached the city of Trimbapurī, the capital of king Ajedin (here Ājadina). There he fell in love with the wife of the city chief businessman (Nagar Seṭh) who had gone to distant lands. The lady was extremely demanding and supported by her maid who cleverly entangled Candrakumāra so that he satisfied all her desires and was fully into her grip. In the meantime the prince’s father had sent people to look for him. He was finally found and freed from the businessman’s wife. The king of Trimbapurī married him to his daughter. After marriage Candrakumāra went back to his capital and lived a happy life with his wife.
