Bṛhatcuñcu (बृहत्चुञ्चु) or Vṛhatcuñcu is a variety of Cuñcu: an unidentified medicinal plant possibly identified with (i) Marsilea dentata Linn., (ii) Marsilea quadrifolia Linn. or (iii) Marsilea minuta Linn., according to verse 4.146-147 of the 13th-century Raj Nighantu or Rājanighaṇṭu.

Bṛhatcuñcu is mentioned as having six synonyms: Viṣāri, Mahācuñcu, Sucuñcukā, Sthūlacuñcu, Dīrghapatrī and Divyagandhā.

Properties and characteristics: “Bṛhatcuñcu is pungent, hot, astringent and constipative. It is indicated in colics, gulma, abdominal ailments, piles, pain and as an antidote to poisons. It is also rejuvenating or rasāyana”.
